Gracie Jiu Jitsu Academy – Our primary partner and training provider

The Gracie Jiu Jitsu Academy was founded in 1925 and it was where Helio Gracie modified Japanese Jiu Jitsu techniques to produce an art that would enable someone to defend themselves against a larger assailant, regardless of size or strength. Over the next fifty years the Gracie’s continued to perfect their techniques. Gracie or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu dominated all martial art disciplines in 1993 when Helio’s son, Royce Gracie was announced the winner of the Ultimate Fighting Championship®. Royce was the smallest fighter in the competition and his victory was proof that Gracie Jiu-Jitsu was not only the most reliable system of self-defense, it was the only system that gives an average person a realistic chance against a larger, more athletic opponent. The following year, the U.S. Army selected chose Gracie Jiu-Jitsu as the foundation for its Modern Army Combative Program and has been adopted by hundreds of military and law enforcement organizations around the world. The Gracie Academy has continued to develop numerous programs that give individuals and their communities the training and resources they need to defend themselves and others. Their organization embraces social responsibility and it is evident through their dedication to preserve and perpetuate the integrity of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as a non-violent self-defense method, within every program.

The Gracie Survival Tactics (G.S.T.)
The Gracie Survival Tactics (G.S.T.) included in the Military/Law Enforcement curriculum will prepare officers to protect themselves in the field. The universally applicable techniques taught will allow any and all law enforcement and military professionals, regardless of their size or age to have the upper hand in the event of an attack. A thorough knowledge of G.S.T. techniques makes it possible for officers to more easily subdue and disarm assailants, retaining complete control of the situation without the use of unnecessary force. Additionally, these techniques are extremely effective, while remaining minimally injurious. This training is subsidized through public contributions, grants and fundraising.
